5 Men’s Health Concerns to Discuss With Your Doctor

Thanks to medical advancements, life expectancies have steadily risen over the generations. One thing that remains constant, though, is the health disparity between men and women. Despite continuous medical progress, women continue to outpace men. As reported by the Centres for Disease Control (CDC), women are 33% more likely to visit the doctor, coupled with the fact that they are proven to be 100% better in maintaining their health through preventative screening.

There are an array of reasons for why men refuse to seek medical help. One of the hindrances may be the Superman Complex, where men tend to shoulder the responsibility to take care of everything. To them, going to the doctor implies that they are sick, and would put them under the care of someone else.

At RMDY Clinic, we believe that being in charge of your health is the first step to strengthen your superhero position. Because how else would you be able to take care of others if your body does not allow it for yourself?

5 Men’s Health concerns to discuss with your doctor:

1. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

UTIs are often thought of as a women’s health issue. While women are indeed more susceptible to contracting a UTI, 12% of men experience UTI at least once in their lifetime. Symptoms of UTIs in men include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Painful urination

  • Frequent urge to urinate

  • Cloudy urine with strong odour

  • Blood in urine

  • Burning sensation during or after urination

UTIs can be easily cured with a course of antibiotics. However, if left untreated, it may potentially cause severe complications, especially if the infection spreads to the kidneys and prostate gland.

2. Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

Regarded as the epitome of strength, men tend to shy away from any discussion centred on their poor sexual performance. Erectile Dysfunction is, in fact, much more common than most people perceive it to be. With evidence of today’s medical progress, there are various types of treatments that have been made available for ED. By acknowledging the issue and opening up to your doctor, you will realise that ED is easily treatable through oral medications or injections.

3. Premature Ejaculation (PE)

Other than Erectile Dysfunction, another common sexual dysfunction that men may experience is Premature Ejaculation. PE and ED are often correlated, but are actually two very different conditions.

With PDE-5 inhibitors being widely marketed as treatments for ED, men are more encouraged to seek medical assistance with issues related to ED. In comparison to ED, PE has been significantly under-diagnosed due to lack of awareness, and resultantly, attention given to it.

Treatments for PE include behavioural techniques, oral, and/or topical treatments.

4. Balanitis

Experiencing some swelling and itchiness on the penis head? Chances are you may be having an episode of Balanitis. This could occur when proper penile hygiene is not practised, which subsequently leads to bacteria growth around the area. Unlike having a step-by-step guide on how to properly wash our hands or brush our teeth, penile hygiene is not openly taught to us and has been overlooked by many.

At RMDY Clinic, we provide Shang Ring Circumcision procedure, a long-term solution to maintain one’s penile hygiene by removing the foreskin and reducing the risk of bacterial infection around the area.

5. Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome (TDS)

Testosterone — a term which many understand as the hormone that plays a vital role in the development of a male’s features. But what happens when one is lacking it? You may have Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome if you are experiencing some or all of the following symptoms:

  • Easily irritable

  • Drop in energy level

  • Feeling lethargic all the time

  • Losing focus at work

  • Reduction in body mass

  • Loss of libido

Do you consider the above symptoms to simply just be accorded to work stress? How about we suggest running some blood tests for you? If your reports are indicative of TDS, you may want to speak to our doctor regarding the possibility of Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). Different TRT treatments are available at RMDY Clinic.
